Lack of Posts

I do apologize for the lack of bloggage lately. Russ has been extremely busy and unfortunately I am not terribly savvy with the whole photo/video/computer thing. So, in lieu of videos of Evan doing cute things I thought I'd share a couple websites.

We seem to be getting greener with old age, or maybe it's living in Ithaca, or having a kid, or our very green friends Amanda and Rob, I'm not sure. Not anything earth shattering (haha) but we just started composting and we've put in CFLs. Anyways, the Story of Stuff was really interesting and has made me think more carefully about my choices and to realize the hidden consequences of some of my consuming. Check it out.

The other "cause" I'm into lately is support for families. It really ticks me off that there is so little help for families with young kids in this country. Somehow I stumbled upon Momsrising.org but this article also mentions a bunch of similar groups. Like most moms I don't have a lot of time or energy to devote to being an activist but if sending an e-mail or reading a blog can help make a difference, I can handle that. I'm also trying to get up the courage (and the time and energy) to have a party/viewing of the Motherhood Manifesto. This is kind of the cornerstone of the Momsrising.org movement.

On a totally different note...we had so much fun at our friend Cedar's 2nd birthday party. They were both so cute and unbelievably excited about each newly discovered toy/present. Lately I've been trying to give out the vibe of "please don't spoil my child for his birthday...he already has too much". But after seeing how much fun "spoiling" a 2 year old can be I say "Bring it On!" So happy shopping all you Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents.

I'll try to post some "Evan Candy" later today if I can figure it out and if I can tear myself away from doing yard work in the gorgeous weather we've been having.

Peace.

How do you make the name of the link what you want it to say- like you linked to my blog, but the highlighted word is Cedar. How do you do that? I am not so computer savvy myself!
